Temper + Lace | Valentine’s Day Collection 2020

Mating season will soon be upon us and Temper + Lace is celebrating with the release of their sexy Valentine’s Day scents. This collection consists of four delicious fragrances; Tryst, Leather, Dream and Cake. Today I am sharing two of those scents with you.

When I first saw she had named one of her candles “Cake”, I was expecting a sweet vanilla cupcake. Apparently I am not hip and cake has a whole other meaning…which explains the juicy peach tones in this candle. I love anything that mixes sweet and juicy with woodsy or earthy; Sandalwood being my fav. This scent is right up my alley. Sweet and sexy with a touch of warm and cozy; the epitome of a Valentine’s Day date night in with your s/o.

Dream is pistachio, coconut and amaretto cream. It’s a subtle scent but creamy is the best way to describe it; the amaretto is probably the strongest tones. Dream is a good one if you don’t like your home to be super fragrant. It reminds me of something else that I can’t quite put my finger on.

I can’t say much for the other two scents but Tryst is perfect if you love fruity, tropical scents. I am told that Leather genuinely smells like Leather; it’s raspberry tones make me super curious!

Temper + Lace | Valentine’s Day Collection 2019

Temper + Lace has released a collection of three Valentine’s Day candles for 2019. These candles are scented with fragrance oil that is phthalate and paraben free. They also feature a super cute new label design and a new cherry wood wick which is smaller than their previous wick to help candles burn longer.

If you had the chance to smell Love Actually from the winter 2018 collection, you might find this one to be slightly similar! It features juicy pomegranate and the sweet, creamy undertones of marshmallow. It is very reminiscent of cotton candy, especially when burning. This is the scent that I was most curious about, and I absolutely love it! This is a super playful fragrance; if you like sweet scents, this is the one for you!

Vanilla and Sandalwood go together like PB&J. This candle is warm, inviting and grounding for a truly comforting scent. This scent is super universal, a real classic; there’s no guessing when it comes to this blend of fragrances. I definitely found that the scent in this one wasn’t as strong as the other two in the collection before I lit it and after lighting it was still more subtle but it is a really beautiful, elegant and, I really can’t over use this word, classic fragrance.

Allure is a more classically masculine scent. This one is definitely more of a perfumey colonge smell with warm, honey-like amber and spicy nutmeg and cloves. It’s also almost a little bit floral. I wasn’t hella crazy about this one off the bat but I have learned that these candles may not always be as they first appear; sometimes they can smell totally different when you burn them! This candle is HEAVENLY when burning. The amber really shines with the candle is burning and it is such a luxurious scent; it made my whole house smell so lavish. If you’re not sure about this scent, I would recommend giving it a shot anyway because it truly is magnificent.

A recent trip to Red Deer meant I got to go a little crazy in the always amazing, LUSH. Some of the products that I bought are stuff I’ve tried before and some are totally new to me. Lush also has this great recycling program, return 5 pots with the recycling logo on them and get 1 free fresh face mask!

I’ll start with Dark Angels, this is a black charcoal and black sugar cleanser for oily skin. I started using this cleanser back in February and it’s really done amazing things for my skin. My skin is soft and smooth, and it’s been great for clarity. Some girls don’t like the smell, it’s kind of like black licorice. But I hate black licorice and I really don’t notice the smell in this cleanser. I’ve also seen some girls complain that it leaves a black residue but that will only happen if you don’t rinse it off completely, and you’re an idiot if you think that’s a flaw in the cleanser and not just you lacking common sense. The charcoal absorbs excess oil while black sugar gently exfoliates, I use it every day and the exfoliation doesn’t irritation my skin at all.  The glycolic acid in black sugar is also great for tightening skin.

Cupcake is a fresh face mask for oily skin. It calms breakouts and redness while moisturizing. This is a mask I tried for the first time in February and it’s amazing, really loved how soft my skin was afterward and it really did help calm redness, plus it smells like chocolate!

Don’t Look At Me is a fresh face mask for deep cleaning and brightening dull skin. It has a grittier texture so it exfoliates as you scrub. It’s super moisturizing as well. I’ve only used it twice and my skin was already looking smooth, brighter and more evenly toned. Plus the zesty lemon scent is refreshing! I’ve been using this the past double days with Tea Tree Water which is a balancing toner for oily skin. It sprays a little unevenly but maybe the one I picked up just has a crappy cap on it. I really like how this makes my skin feel. I’m left soft, smooth and with clearer skin. My skin is looking less red and generally refreshed.

The other two masks I picked up are Ayesha and Catastrophe Cosmetic. These are both fresh face masks that I’ve never tried before. I picked up Ayesha because my mom and sister are coming to visit me and I thought it would be relaxing for us to have a little at home spa day. Ayesha is blended for firming and moisturizing mature skin or just for dull, tired skin. Vitamin C rich kiwi for brightening, asparagus to nourish and absorb excess oil while honey soothes, hydrates and calms redness. Cosmetic Catastrophe stood out to me because of the blueberries. It deep cleans while your skin reaps the benefits of nutrient rich blueberries. And the soothing chamomile is gentle on sensitive skin.  Super excited to try these two masks!
